CHARACTER NAME: Roronoa Zoro | Pirate Hunter Zoro
FANDOM: One Piece!
CHRONOLOGY: Chapter 605
CLASS: Lazyass/challenger of anyone with a sword.
SUPERHERO NAME: Pirate Hunter Zoro
ALTER EGO: Roronoa Zoro; possibly could become a bounty hunter, but could also become a bum.
PERSONALITY:
Zoro’s the most cautious/untrusting Strawhat. His method of dealing with people is glaring at them or staring them down. And if they shrink back then they’re pretending and hiding something and if they meet his gaze then they’re even more suspicious. That’s the way his mind works. In order to gain his trust you have to do something either honorable or loyal to impress him. It’s just the way he rolls.
In a fight, Zoro’s a completely different person. Canonly he’s been said to give off an aura of killing energy or something like that and he’s also been described as a “beast”. Both are pretty much true since he gets sort of crazy during a fight. Since fighting is pretty much all he lives for, it’s not really all that strange for him to get so pumped up about it. It isn’t unsual for Zoro to get tremendously excited when facing a challenging opponent, especially when that opponent could possibly be better than him. That’s just when he gets more excited. Fighting also brings out his cockiness and sometimes overconfidence, often taking the form of taunts such as “when I defeat you” etc. To his credit, he almost always stays true to those taunts.
Outside of a fight, Zoro remains fairly stern and quiet, unless he’s being made fun of. Then he has these little outbursts of anger for comedic purposes. But, for the most part he’s quiet and often keeps to himself. Most of the time he’s training, drinking sake, or sleeping when not involved in an adventure with the crew. Out of the three, training is the most common. This is because he favors improving himself (except for the drinking) over socializing with the crew. By improving himself he can defeat more advanced opponents in battle and both protect the crew and achieve his goal of becoming the best swordsman in the world faster.
Although upon first glance, Zoro seems cold and distant because of his stern exterior, he’s actually very protective and close to the rest of the crew. For example, to Chopper, the youngest of the crew, he acts similarly to the way an older brother would act. In fact, Zoro is so protective of his crew that if he thinks the situation is dire enough, he will immediately offer up his life in place of the crew. This can be seen most specifically in relation to Luffy on numerous occasions, the most notable being with Bartholomew Kuma in Thriller Bark.
Zoro also has his moments of actually being pretty damn wise. Most of these moments happen during a battle or in relation to captain-crew relationships. On occasions, he’ll act as the reminder to the crew that they are pirates and need to take things more seriously than they do. The best example of this is when Luffy was close to accepting Usopp as a crew member after a very serious argument which Usopp lost and got kicked out of the crew for. It was Zoro during this moment who said that unless Usopp apologized to Luffy for challenging his leadership, he couldn’t be accepted back into the crew as that would belittle Luffy’s position as captain. It’s in moments like that that we see that Zoro is wiser than he first lets on, and does actually think of the rest of the crew.
That being said, Zoro does make fairly foolish decisions. Though he can come up with good strategies and suggestions during battle, most of the time they end up relying on luck. Zoro trusts Lady Luck an absurd amount. This comes from his strong belief in destiny; if it’s not destined to happen then it won’t happen and he’s fine with that.
POWER:
Zoro's canon powers are shonen swordsman skills. You know what I'm talking about. The shonen guys who are able to cut through buildings with swords (Zoro did this) and other impossible-to-cut-through things. But seriously, in canon he has really no powers although one could argue that he has the ability not to die when he really should.
Which leads me into his first power!
Zoro's first power is based off the fact that whenever he has a fight he loses insane amounts of blood. Amounts that should kill him. But he doesn't die. Ever. So, in order to explain this in Capeandcowl land I'll be giving him the power to have an unlimited supply of blood. Think of it as a sort of 'extra life' in a video game. When he's about to die due to blood loss, his blood just kind of magically refills itself. Just so, you know. He doesn't die.
Zoro's second power will be a form of teleportation that is triggered whenever Zoro wants to go somewhere. For instance, say he wants to go to the grocery store. He steps out of his door and bam! He's teleported right smack dab in the middle of the musical production of Showgirls. In Las Vegas. So basically, he'll be teleported to someplace random that is not the place he wants to go. This is playing off the fact that he gets hopelessly lost in canon. This power will, essentially, make him even more lost than ever before. How exciting.

COMMUNITY POST (FIRST PERSON) SAMPLE:
[The video opens to what looks like the top of an aquarium? No. That can’t be the top of an aquarium. He’s roasting a Bull Shark over a fire. You can’t do that in aquariums. Well. Turns out you can when the Aquarium’s staff are all unconscious around said shark. Seated close to the camera and next to the shark is a man in a black… yukata? Is that what they’re called? Attached to his waist are three katanas. A scar is evident over his left eye and he’s drinking what appears to be sake. He takes turns eyeing the shark and eyeing the comm. Taking another swig of the sake, he wipes his mouth and unsheathes a katana to poke the shark, testing it. Talks as he does so, not looking at the comm.]
Oi, Cook. [The faintest hint of a smirk:] #7. You out there? [The Shark seems about done and Zoro cuts a piece off for himself. Does all those things you need to do to a fish before you eat it with a pretty neutral expression. Almost like he’s paring potatoes and not what once was a living animal.]
You ever heard of a marine base called… [He grabs the body of one of the aquarium workers, reads their little patch on their jumpsuit that says the aquarium’s name.] …”Oklahoma Aquarium”? [He throws the body… somewhere and starts to eat the Shark. Again. All neutral expression.] I caught dinner.
[And with that, he moves the camera to show a whole pile of Bull Sharks that had previously been off-screen.] They’re starting to smell bad so pick them up soon. [And with that, he’s off.]
COMMUNITY POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:
The hat got in his way, with it’s troublesome wide brim. The mask too, impaired his vision. Made the fight last longer than he would have liked. Injured him more than he would have liked. True, he could have removed both, but when there were bullets bouncing off the wall and the battle had started it was hard to pull one’s mind away. So the ridiculous hat and mask had stayed on, impairing him-handicapping him
But at the same time, it was a challenge, albeit one he had faced before. Still, a good challenge bears repeating though Zoro did wish it were against opponents more capable than these. He would have to make do with what he had, however, and at the moment all he had was a bunch of thugs shooting poorly at him.
There were about eight in total when he had quite literally stumbled onto the scene, lost once again in the relatively new City. It was nighttime, which was why he wore the ridiculous black gaucho hat and mask that had gotten him into this trouble. Usopp and Sanji had given both to him, telling him that disguises were necessary at night. Though he had suspected otherwise, he chose to trust them, seeing as they had been in this world longer.
He had learned his lesson.
The moment he had stumbled onto the thugs’ there was a few moments pause as both sides took time to recognize what was going on. They were in the middle of some sort of deal, probably something illegal.
“It’s one of dem heroes!” One of them shouted, drawing a gun. At the sight of the weapon, Zoro had drawn his own, setting his third sword in his mouth just as the first bullet was shot. More followed and Zoro deflected them all with ease, even with his impaired vision. There was cursing, then more bullets, the sound of said bullets bouncing off of metal, and then the soft thump of bodies hitting the ground.
There were eight when he had started, now there was only one. With a single sword, he sliced through the thug’s gun as if it were paper. The thug cried out, startled and started to back away from the advancing Zoro. His back hit the wall, and Zoro grinned, drawing out his blades, readying himself for a final attack.
The thug’s eyes widened as he held his hands up in front of him, as if to protect himself. “Zorro, don’t man! ‘m sorry ‘bout earlier, it was a misunderstanding—!” The thug’s pleas were quieted by the tip of Zoro’s blade held close to his throat.
“How do you know my name?” Sanji had told him their bounties didn’t exist here and if that was the case, there was no way this kid could know his name. So why did he?
“Wha—? Man, ain’t that who you dressed up as? All Mask of Zorro and shit! Actin like fuckin Antonio Banderas—“ Zoro knocked the kid out before he could finish. Removing the hat and mask, he ran a hand through his hair as he scowled. Disguise his ass. He’d get Usopp and Sanji back for that.
